From The Deep

From the Deep explores the quiet space where forms begin to emerge from darkness but have not yet fully revealed themselves. Layers of enamel build a sense of depth that feels both expansive and intimate, while the delicate traces of gold suggest moments of light hidden beneath the surface.

As I worked, the painting seemed less concerned with depicting a place than with creating an experience of gradual discovery. The white forms drift between different identities—perhaps marine life, perhaps fragments of structure, perhaps simply gestures suspended in space—remaining intentionally open so that each viewer can bring their own associations.

Some things cannot be forced into view. They emerge gradually, asking only that we slow down long enough to notice them.
